Healing Response

Some people, both young and old, experience a healing response to reflexology, this refers to the temporary symptoms that may occur after receiving reflexology treatment, and is a positive sign of your body rebalancing itself.

While the healing response can vary, specific to individuals and your current health, some common responses whilst the body adjusts and releases what it no longer requires include:

– Excitable and energised
– Emotional
– Tiredness
– Calmness
– Withdrawn for a period
– Irritable
– Nausea
– Alterations to concentration
– Changes to sleep patterns
– Aches and pains

Eliminating things they don’t need by means of:

– Change or increase in urination or bowel movements
– Skin itching, spots
– Cold, sniffles, sneezing
– Headaches

Or nothing! Sometimes the changes happen on a deeper level, and we don’t see any changes.

Whatever you may notice is okay, and should only last for 24-36 hours. Any symptoms lasting longer are not likely to be linked to the treatment and may need GP/ pharmacist attention.

Please ensure that you drink plenty of water after your treatment and stay hydrated to help flush out any toxins. Herbal tea and fruit juices are okay also.

Listen to your body and rest if you need it, or at least get an early night.

Avoid caffeine, alcohol, heavy meals, and strenuous exercise for the rest of the day.

If strong emotions are unsurfaced from the treatment, allow them to surface, without judgment, acknowledge and address them, or let them go.

After your treatment I am happy to discuss the reflexes that showed up and any specific aftercare advice.
